Reference Service
Since 1953, the Baxter County Library has grown along with the community and continuously provided books, information, programs, and services. At the beginning of a new millennium, the library has all the tools you need to explore the world - from reference materials to classic films and from great literature to free public Internet access. Today the library offers more resources and services than ever so citizens of all ages can experience the magic that has meant so much to generations of people.
Following is a sample of the services we provide:
Reference questions (general information, genealogy, Arkansas history, etc.) We answer "ready reference" phone queries as well.
Interlibrary loans for books and materials we don't own. Postage charges on these are $2.00 per item, payable in advance. If we cannot locate the item, the amount will be refunded.
Genealogy materials. We provide limited assistance with searches. We have microfilm on the "Baxter Bulletin" from 1901-July 2004 and it is being added to as is filmed. Reference staff will look up obituaries and articles for $5.00 per item. Patrons can call 425-3598 ext. 24 or email Vincent Anderson. Books, tapes and periodicals can be placed on hold either in person, online or on the phone.
Book renewals can be placed online, in-person and over the phone as well.
