"Best Lawyer In A One Lawyer Town"
Brown Bag Luncheon/Book Discussion
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Books available at the B.C. Library now. Discussion of the memoir by Dale Bumpers, former Arkansas Governor and U.S. Senator. Bring your lunch, Library will supply drinks and cookies.
This discussion will be moderated by John Beecroft. John Beecroft is a retired history teacher and school librarian. He was the owner of the Owl Book Store in Mountain Home and a member of the Baxter County Library Board. He does public speaking on the First Ladies of the U.S. and also, the First Ladies of Arkansas. Senator Bumpers’ biography is one of the best books on small time life in rural Arkansas. 80% of the book is devoted to his youth and law practice. Very little has to do with his political career. He has an excellent sense of humor mostly at his own expense. If you want to learn about Arkansas in the 30's,40’s, and 50's, this would be an excellent book to read. Bumpers is an outstanding storyteller and an exceptional political figure.
