RESOLUTION

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MOUNTAIN HOME AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

March 30, 2007

WHEREAS, our nation's public, academic, school and specialized libraries transform their communities;

WHEREAS, libraries play a vital role in supporting the quality of life in our communities;

WHEREAS, the size of the current library building is inadequate to meet the needs of the Baxter county citizens and supply the level of services, materials and programs which they deserve and desire; and

WHEREAS, the Baxter County Library Board and the Baxter County Quorum Court approved the purchase of 6.5 acres on which to build a new library; and

WHEREAS, the Baxter County Public Library Foundation, Inc., the supporting organization for the Baxter County Library, has conducted a needs assessment, completed a strategic plan, conducted a feasibility study and has begun work on a building design for a new library building; and

WHEREAS, the Foundation is planning to apply for a Don W. Reynolds building grant to build a library on the 6.5 acre site, and is beginning a capital campaign to raise the 20% community match required by the Reynolds Foundation;

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors appreciates and supports the Foundation’s plan to apply for the Donald W. Reynolds building grant and supports the capital campaign.
