City Signs Deal to Purchase Library

Mountain Home officials plan to buy the Baxter County Library building and use it to house the city police station if the library obtains grant money to build a new facility.

Baxter County Library Board Chairman Deborah Knox said the agreement with the city will help the library obtain the $10 million grant. The library foundation's capital campaign must raise $2 million, or 20 percent of the grant, to meet grant requirements. As of Tuesday, the foundation had raised $700,000, more than one-third the required amount. If the purchase agreement is completed, $1,200,000 of the local matching funds will have been raised.
